US Envoys to Attend Trilateral Talks with Russia, Ukraine in Abu Dhabi
As stated by officials, US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will take part in the upcoming negotiations in the UAE capital. A US official said, "Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be in Abu Dhabi tomorrow for another round of trilateral talks."
Referring to previous discussions held in late January, the official described those talks as unprecedented, arguing that the three sides had not previously managed to engage in direct negotiations aimed at advancing peace efforts. The official added, "So, the special envoy and Jared Kushner and President (Donald) Trump made the impossible possible with respect to peace in the Middle East, and I know they're looking to do the same with respect to the Russia-Ukraine war."
According to reports, the most recent trilateral meeting took place on Jan. 24 in Abu Dhabi and lasted for more than three hours, bringing together delegations from all three countries.
The US delegation included Witkoff, Kushner, and Josh Gruenbaum, alongside senior military officials. Ukraine was represented by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, key national security and military leaders, and several advisers.
The Russian delegation, according to reports, was led by Admiral Igor Kostyukov, the head of the country’s military intelligence service.
