US Envoys Head to UAE for Russia, Ukraine Trilateral Talks
"Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be in Abu Dhabi tomorrow for another round of trilateral talks," White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in remarks to Fox News.
Referring to the previous round of trilateral discussions held toward the end of January, which she described as unprecedented, Leavitt asserted that the three nations had never before genuinely managed to convene formal negotiations aimed at pushing momentum toward a peaceful resolution.
"So, the special envoy and Jared Kushner and President (Donald) Trump made the impossible possible with respect to peace in the Middle East, and I know they're looking to do the same with respect to the Russia-Ukraine war," she added.
The most recent session of the trilateral dialogue, which extended beyond three hours, occurred in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 24 and brought together representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.
The American delegation included Trump’s envoys Witkoff, Kushner, and Josh Gruenbaum, alongside Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and General Alexus Grynkewich, who serves as commander of the US European Command.
Ukraine’s representatives comprised President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov, National Security Adviser Rustem Umerov, and General Andrii Hnatov, the military’s chief of staff, as well as advisers Sergiy Kyslytsya and Davyd Arakhamia.
